Infographics can be the secret weapon you use to dominate the search engine. Here is how it works…

Your competitors that are ranking on the first page of Google have high “Domain Authority”  and one of the primary factors influencing domain authority is quality backlinks. Therefore, it is safe to assume that your high ranking competitors have good quality backlinks. A backlink is when another website links to a page on your website. To have quality backlinks, you must have reputable “high authority” websites linking to your web pages.

If you are new to SEO, then this may not make a lot of sense. If this is you, then reach out to me and I’ll try to help.

So how did these strong competitors get backlinks?

Most likely they have received backlinks because other websites have linked to the content on their blog. Maybe they have good resources or have invested in reaching out to web masters to ask for the backlinks. Regardless of how they received the backlinks, your goal should be to get the same or better backlinks.

Step #1: Find your competitors backlinks

You can do this using companies like Ahrefs.com or Moz’s Open Site Explorer. Once you have found the backlinks, then you can see what content on your competitors website is performing well.

Step #2: Create an Infographic to Supplement Your Competitors Content

You want to create an infographic with good visual design and that supplements the content your competitor is getting backlinks from.

Step #3: Pitch the webmaster that is linking to your competitor to include your infographic in his/her posts.

For example, if a blogger is linking to a page of content on your competitors site entitled, “How to know if you have a legitimate case”, you could create an infographic that shows relevant stats to support the article. You would then reach out to the blogger and explain how adding your new infographic could be helpful for his or her readers. Make sure to include a link to your website in the footer of the infographic that is clickable or ask for the backlink in a credit section.

Taking these steps can help you get many additional backlinks to your website and not just any backlinks. Your getting the same backlinks that help your competitor rank.

Warning: Not all backlinks are good, so make sure to do your research and do a quality check on your potential backlink source.

There are also many other benefits to using infographics. Here is a quick infographic I made to showcase 4 additional reasons:
